MISSION
The Baffour-Awuah Memorial Fund is a continuation of the legacies of Dr. George Baffour-Awuah and Nabby Baffour-Awuah. In honor of their lives, we wish to spark some good in the world.

We are committed to two key initiatives in service of this mission - in Ghana and the USA: the Dr. George Baffour-Awuah Memorial Gift at the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS), and the Nabby Baffour-Awuah Memorial Endowment at Luther College. Please see details below.

CURRENT INITIATIVES
UGMS (Accra, Ghana)
| The Dr. George Baffour-Awuah Memorial Gift at UGMS was established to support gifted students in need of aid - through tuition, materials, boarding and other resources. Dr. George Baffour-Awuah was passionate about his patients' wellbeing, and he valued the role of education in being able to ensure this. By establishing this initiative at our father’s alma mater, we are determined to carry on his commitment to quality healthcare and education, and invest in his belief that poverty should not determine one’s destiny. Each year, we donate $1500 to this initiative.

Luther College (Decora, IA) | The Nabby Baffour-Awuah Memorial Endowment at Luther College was established to help sponsor international students who wish to travel back home for the holidays, family emergencies, or goodwill projects. With all of us (Nabby’s siblings) having been international students on work-study scholarships, this hits close to home. We understand the constraints costs pose, and the immeasurable value of staying connected to family when so far away from home. We believe we can help transform the quality of a student's college experience by helping ease this financial burden. This annual pledge of $1500 to Nabby’s alma mater is our commitment to this belief.

LONG-TERM GOALS
Official Non-Profit Status | We plan to officially register The Baffour-Awuah Memorial Fund as a 501(c)(3). This will enable all donor contributions to be tax deductible, as well as accommodate matching donations from employers. We hope to attain this status in the near future.

Endowment Fund | With your continued support, we hope to establish an Endowment Fund - over the next 10 years - to fulfill our above initiatives in perpetuity. This self-sustaining Endowment Fund will only be started once we have attained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and will be professionally managed. Until that time, any excess funds raised during annual fundraising will be rolled over into the next year.
